Men's Tennis Opens Spring Break in Orlando

(Orlando, Fla.) – The Dickinson men's tennis team suffered a pair of setbacks on Monday, falling to Millsaps College 7-2 and Division II Lee University 7-0.

Sophomore Leonid Sorkin (St. Petersburg, Russia/U. of Nebraska High School) earned a point in the top singles flight against Millsaps, posting a (6-1, 6-0) win and joined Andrew Lai (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater) for an 8-1 win at number-one doubles.

Lai battled in the third singles flight, dropping a (6-2, 3-6, 10-4) decision while Joey Bolanos (San Salvador, El Salvador/Escuela Americans) fell in the second spot (6-3, 6-3).

Playing the DII format, Lee led 1-0, claiming all three doubles matches. Bolanos partnered with Jordan Haber (Short Hills, N.J./Millburn) to challenge in the second spot, 6-4.

Lai had another strong singles match, but fell (6-4, 6-3) in the third flight. Bryce Perritt (Allentown, N.J./Lawrenceville) went (6-2, 7-5) in the five-spot.

The Red Devils (0-5) return to action with a pair of matches on Tuesday. The open with an early morning match-up with Piedmont and face Hampton-Sydney at 7:00 pm.
