NEWVILLE, Pa. - Seniors Elaina Clancy and Isabel Cardi won each race for Dickinson to help the Red Devils claim the combined team championship at the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational on Saturday at Big Spring High School.
Clancy led the pack of 125 runners all day finishing at 22:38.21, which was almost a minute faster than the next competitor Aubrey Wingeart out of Waynesburg University who clocked in at 23:35.11. Maddie Garber landed inside the Top-5 placing fourth with a time of 23:57.51, while Samantha Barnes finished in ninth at 24:24.36. Amiyah Priebe was the next Devil finishing in 15th at 24:48.81. Myra Naqvi came in 22nd crossing the line in 25:15.76. Molly Herron finished at 26:10.99 which was good for 44th. Olivia Oligny-Leggett was the final DC runner with a time of 27:14.57.
Dickinson was the team score as well posting a 13, which put them 15 points clear of Misericordia in second.
Cardi outlasted the 153 member field with a time of 14:32.12. She was joined in the Top-10 by Allyson Yanega in fourth and Lilianna Matala three spots later with times of 15:15.65 and 15:29.89 respectively. The next trio of Red Devils runners was Charlotte Kratovil-Lavelle (16:22.53), Sarah Yanega (16:26.31), and Laura Berman (16:28.15) who took up places 21-23. Elizabeth Cassell clocked in at 16:34.09 good for 27th. Julia Hoffritz and Isabel Crawford completed the Dickinson runners with times of 16:57.89 and 17:26.11.
The Red Devils came in second in the team results with a score of 12, as Shippensburg came in with a mark of 10.
Dickinson earned the combined title with a total of 25, which was a whopping 89 points ahead of second-place Messiah at 114, followed by Susquehanna (139) and Gettysburg (172).
The Red Devils will next be in action on Friday when they travel to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University.
