Cardi Wins Race as Red Devils Claim Galen Piper Title

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Senior Isabel Cardi picked right up where she left off in the 2019 cross country season as she claimed the individual title at the Galen Piper Cross Country Challenge on Friday night hosted by Shippensburg University.  Dickinson dominated the field posting six runners in the Top-10 allowing the Red Devils to take home the team crown with a score of 19 points.

Cardi won with a time of 14:38.6, followed by classmate Elaina Clancy who crossed the line at 14:47.3. The pair were joined in the Top-5 by another senior Allyson Yanega who clocked in at 15:31.6 for fourth.

First-years Madison Garber and Amiyah Priebe claimed sixth and ninth with times of 15:33.7 and 15:45.1 respectively. Lilianna Matala completed the group of Red Devils in the Top-10 coming in at 15:49.6. 

Dickinson also placed 12th, 13th, and 14th thanks to Sammy Jo Barnes (16:09.3), Sarah Yanega (16:19.1) and Myra Naqvi (16:20.8). Two more runners finished inside the Top-20 as Charlotte Kratovil-Lavelle came in 16th (16:44.7) and Laura Berman crossed the line right behind her at 16:46.7.

Elizabeth Cassell placed 22nd (16:57.7), Molly Heron came in 28th (17:13.2), Julia Hoffritz finished in 31st (17:18.4), and Olivia Oligny-Leggett crossed the line in 35th at 17:24.3.

Isabel Crawford and Shannon Loughin finished the race with times of 17:35.1 and 18:12.9.

The Red Devils are back in action next Friday at 6 p.m. when they host the Little 3 Championships at Dickinson Park.
