WESTMINSTER, Md. - The Dickinson volleyball team earned their sixth win in their last seven matches with a straight-set win at McDaniel College on Wednesday night. The Red Devils won by scores of 25-21, 25-21, and 25-14.
The match started out even with the two teams sharing the first ten points, then Anna Jezerski and Angalyn Strouse aided a 6-2 home push to take an 11-7 edge. Kills from Emma Lange and Hannah Riley helped Dickinson put together a 7-6 stretch to close within 17-14. The rest of the set belonged to the Red Devils as they outscored the Green Terror 11-4 thanks to scores from Alexa Barowski, Morgan Biggs, Ann Marie Patterson, Lange, and Riley to earn a 25-21 win.
With the score tied 4-4 to begin the second Jenna Schumann, Barowski, and Lange put together a 6-2 charge to grab a 10-6 lead. McDaniel answered back with four of the next five points to make it 11-10, but then Christina Chu, Biggs, Lange, Patterson, and Riley responded in a massive way with a 10-2 rampage to extend the margin to 21-12. McDaniel scored nine of the ensuing 13 points, but it would not be enough as Schumann put away the final kill for the 25-21 victory.
Dickinson got out of the blocks strong in the third taking a 9-6 lead thanks to kills from Elise Butler, Barowski, Biggs, and Lange. After two points from the Green Terror made it 9-8, Jordan Schucker, Barowski, Biggs, and Riley answered back with a 7-2 run to seize a 16-10 advantage. McDaniel cut it to 16-12 on a kill by Nia Roberts, but they would get no closer with scores from Lange, Riley, and Schucker closing out the 25-14 win.
