LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association in conjunction with the United States Marine Corps announced that it has named the Dickinson Women's Volleyball program a 2021 USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award winner.

The award, which was initiated during the 1992-93 academic year, recognizes volleyball programs that have maintained a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.

The Red Devils distinguished themselves as a program earning a team GPA of 3.63 during the 2020-21 academic year.

"Even though teams might not have played during their usual season or may not have competed at all during the past year, coaches still found ways to lead their players to academic excellence." said AVCA Executive Director Kathy DeBoer. "This is a testament to the important role volleyball coaches play in their players success both on and off the court."

Dickinson opens its 2021 season on Wednesday, September 1 at Lancaster Bible College at 7 p.m.
