Red Devil Volleyball Sweeps Tri-Match at St. Vincent

(Latrobe, Pa.) – The Dickinson volleyball team came home with a pair of victories on Saturday, posting non-conference wins over St. Vincent and Westminster.

The Red Devils opened the day with a 3-1 decision over Westminster. Dickinson overcame a slow start as Westminster claimed the first set, 25-20, to sweep the next three (25-19, 25-15, 25-15).

Junior setter Kristin Allgaier (Reston, Va./South Lakes) handed out 48 assists and tallied 12 digs while classmate Tatiana Lopez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Colegio Puertorriquenno de Ninas) anchored the defensive effort with 25 digs.

Defensive specialists Christina Chu (Hartsdale, N.Y./Ardsley) and Jacqueline Banker (Rockaway Park, N.Y./Archbishop Malloy) added 16 and 14 digs, respectively.

Sophomore Jenna Schumann (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Germantown Academy) had a double-double with 15 kills and 15 digs while Hanna Riley (Littlestown, Pa./Littlestown) put down 15 kills and had five block assists.

Kylie Albertsen (Woodstock, Md./Marriots Ridge) was strong at the net, adding eight kills and four blocks. Morgan Biggs (Stephenson, Va./James Wood) and Emma Lange (Jupiter, Fla./Benjamin) tallied nine and eight kills, respectively.

The Red Devils came out in the second match and claimed the opening two sets 25-21 and 25-20 before closing out the match with a 25-12 decision on the third.

Allgaier handed out 31 assists and 13 digs in the nightcap while Riley led the attack again with 11 kills.

Schumann added nine kills while Biggs finished with eight. Lopez finished with 15 digs with Chu picking up 12. Banker served up four aces and tallied three digs.

The Red Devils improve to 14-7 on the season and will travel to Haverford College for a tri-match next Saturday. They will face the host Fords at 12:00 pm and Misericordia in the second match of the day.
