Volleyball Tames Bears for Second Straight Sweep

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson volleyball team turned in another strong performance, sweeping Ursinus College, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils took control in the opening set, rolling to a 25-12 win. The Bears got stronger throughout the match, but Dickinson made a run in the second to claim the set, 25-18, and held off a strong push in the third, 25-23.

Emma Lange (Jupiter, Fla./Benjamin) was pounding the ball in the middle, finishing with 12 kills, two solo blocks and a pair of block assists.

Sophomore Jenna Schumann (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Germantown Academy) tallied 12 kills as well, picking up seven digs and adding a pair of block assists. Classmate Hanna Riley (Littlestown, Pa./Littlestown) was just shy of double figures, recording nine kills on the day.

Junior setter Kristin Allgaier (Reston, Va./South Lakes) handed out 34 assists while junior libero Tatiana Lopez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Colegio Puertorriqueno de Ninas) had 18 digs.

Junior Jamie Singer (Livingston, N.J./Golda Och) served up five aces in the match, adding seven digs and a pair of blocks. Jacqueline Banker (Rockaway Park, N.Y./Archbishop Malloy) chipped in with four aces and six digs as well.

The Red Devils improve to 10-6 overall and 2-2 in the Centennial Conference. They travel to Johns Hopkins University next Thursday to face the #16-ranked Blue Jays at 7:00 pm.
