(Haverford, Pa.) – The Dickinson volleyball team split a tri-match at Haverford College on Saturday. The Red Devils suffered a 3-0 setback to the hosts and came back to defeat Manhattanville College, 3-1, in the nightcap.
The Red Devils were right three in every set against Haverford, falling (25-20, 25-22, 25-18). First-year Hannah Riley (Littlestown, Pa./Littlestown) led the attack with 11 kills while sophomore setter Kristin Allgaier (Reston, Va./South Lakes) handed out 12 assists and recorded nine digs.
Tatiana Lopez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Colegio Puertorriqueno de Ninas) and Christina Chu (Hartsdale, N.Y./Ardsley) reached double-figures with 16 and 13 digs, respectively, each added a pair of aces. Lopez tallied five assists as well in the opener.
The Red Devils dropped the opening set of the second match but bounced back to claim three straight games to win the match. Manhattanville won the opener, 25-19, before Dickinson countered (25-20, 25-18, 25-20).
Allgaier added 26 assists, three aces and five digs in the second match. Emma Lange (Jupiter, Fla./Benjamin) led the attack with 13 kills and seven block assists. Elise Butler (Chester Springs, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) and Jenna Schumann (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Germantown Academy) reached double-figures with 11 and 10 kills. Schumann added nine digs, four aces and a pair of blocks.
Jamie Singer (Livingston, N.J./Golda Och) had a strong outing, recording eight kills and 11 digs. Lopez had a strong showing as well, recording 15 digs, five kills and five assists.
The Red Devils move to 10-16 overall and 2-6 in the Centennial Conference. They travel to McDaniel College on Wednesday to face the Green Terror at 7:00 pm.
