Devils Win Four Events Mason-Dixon Invitational

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Dickinson women's track and field team won four events and had numerous Top-10 finishers at the Mason-Dixon Invitational hosted by Gettysburg College at Musselman Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Sprints

Mariana Penuela finished second during the 100m with a time of 12.86, falling just shy of the winner Alexa Rine of Susquehanna (12.80). Emerlee Simons and Abbe Kitchin also landed inside the Top-10 with times of 13.13 (6th) and 13.60 (10th). Leah Biwott (13.63), Eliza Gichner (13.78), and Catarina Acosta (14.18) competed in the event as well. Darya Mikusova claimed second in the 100m hurdles by stopping the clock in 15.54, followed right behind by Alexandra Colby (16.55). Kelsey Welch came in seventh at 18.60.

Sara Penuela one-upped her sister in the 200m by winning the event crossing the line in 26.15. Kitchin clocked in at 27.68 for eighth, while Maddie Brown earned ninth (27.69).

Two Devils competed in the 400m as Evelyn Swayze took fifth with a time of 1:03.93 and Morgan Mooradian stopped the timer at 1:08.92 for 11th. Mikusova picked up another win for the Red and White during the 400m hurdles clocking in at 1:04.24. Lily Swain's time of 1:13.13 was good for fifth with Lily Cusa claiming ninth (1:14.19). 

 

Distance

Lilianna Matala finished in sixth during the 800m crossing the line in 2:28.22.

Elaina Clancy earned the final podium spot in the 5000m with a time of 18:59.17, while Shannon Loughin landed in 12th at 21:05.04.

Relays

Two Dickinson teams did battle in the 4x100m with the team of Mikusova, the Penuela sisters, and Simons winning the third event of the day for DC by stopping the clock in 49.42. The other unit of Brown, Colby, Gichner, and Kitchin took fourth (51.18).

Field

Abby Everett earned a third-place result in the hammer throw with a distance of 38.74m with her teammate Claire Shearer landing in eighth at 32.70m.

The Devils went one-two during the discus as Sarayne Forbes won the event with a mark of 39.41m, while Everett finished at 36.04m.

Four members of the Red and White claimed Top-10 results in the shot put led by Everett (3rd - 10.83m), Shearer (6th - 10.37m), Mia Raso (7th - 10.28), and Forbes (10th - 9.94m).

Swain seized the final podium slot during the pole vault by clearing a height of 2.75m.

M. Penuela and Elizabeth Lieb finished tied in the long jump with a distance of 4.93m. Annie Leder claimed seventh at 4.82m.

Team Scores

The Devils racked up 151 points to claim third falling just behind Messiah University at 156 and the champion Susquehanna University on 157.
