Women's T&F Claims Second at Centennial Conference Championships

(ALLENTOWN, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's outdoor track & field team finished second at the 2021 Centennial Conference Championships at Muhlenberg on Saturday. Johns Hopkins captured the title with a score of 281 with the Red Devils coming in with 180.5.

Senior Isabel Cardi (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) broke the meet record in the 5000-meters, posting a winning time of 16:58.42.

Junior Elaina Clancy (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) won the 10,000 meters with a time of 36:15.87, looking to break into the top-10, nationally. Ella Meyer (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) crossed the line sixth.

The Red Devils had some outstanding performances from the first-year class. Abby Everett (Palmerton, Pa./Palmerton Area) set a school record in the discus with a winning throw of 37.67 meters. She also finished ninth in the shot put.

The first-year quartet of Mariana Penuela Rodriguez (Summit, N.J./Summit), Sara Penuela Rodriguez (Summit, N.J./Summit), Darya Mikusova (Niantic, Conn./East Lyme) and Emerlee Simons (Princeton, N.J./Stuart Country Day of the Sacred Heart) combined to win the 4x400 relay and placed second in the 4x100.

Sara and Mariana placed first and second in the 200 meters and third and fourth in the long jump, respectively. Sara also won the 400 meters with Simons coming in third. Mariana added a win in the 100 meters.

Mikusova won the 400 hurdles and captured bronze in the 100-meter hurdles while sophomore Alexandra Colby (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) finished fourth in the 100-hurdles. Colby cleared a height of 2.75 meters to place fourth in the pole vault. She was sixth in the triple jump while Maddie Gidman (Willington, Conn./Edwin O. Smith) finished third in the triple.

Senior Allyson Yanega (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) crossed the line fourth in the 1500 while first-year Olivia Oligny-Leggett (Valatie, N.Y./Ichabod Crane) ran to fifth in the 3000-meter steeplechase.

Sarah Yanega (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) and Allyson Yanega (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) placed third and fourth in the 800 meters. They both joined Cardi and Lilianna Matala (Schenectady, N.Y./Notre Dame – Bishop Gibbons) to place third in the 4x800 relay. Matala also scored in the High Jump, finishing 8th.
