CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's tennis team braved the wind and cold on Wednesday afternoon to battle the visiting Johns Hopkins Blue Jays at the Hays Tennis Courts. Unfortunately, for the Red and White, the visitors came out on top 9-0 in the Centennial Conference clash.
Doubles (Hopkins 3-0)
Johns Hopkins earned sweeps at number one and two doubles as the pairs of Martine Fierro and Ariana Goitz as well as Izzy Desjardins and Molly Michel came out on the wrong end of 8-0 decisions. Dickinson did not have a team to compete at the third slot allowing Anya Gunewardena and Sophie Saland to earn a win by default.
Singles (Hopkins 6-0)
Fierro gave all she could against Anjali Devireddy, but fell short 6-3, 6-2. In the third spot Anabelle Armendarez picked up two games versus Celina Liu, but it was not enough as she fell 6-1, 6-1. A slot later Desjardins did battle with Amanda Ruci, however, she would win just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 setback. The other two singles matches went to the Jays by way of 6-0, 6-0 scores as Goitz and Michel fought hard however could not grab a victory. The Jays completed the victory with a win by default at six singles.
Dickinson (8-9, 2-6 Centennial) wraps up the regular season on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. when they host the Bears of Ursinus College on the Hays Tennis Courts.
