Women's Swimming Breaks School Relay Record on Day One of Gettysburg Invite

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Olivia Abbott-Havers, Sarah Caron, Katie Toth, and Norah broke the Dickinson College record with a time of 1:38.09 and took third in the first event of the day on day one of the Gettysburg College Invitational at Bullets Pool. 

The team eclipsed the previous mark of 1:38.89 set by the group of Molly Sternick, Caroline Christianson, Caroline Wasielevski, and Caron at the same meet on December 6, 2019. DC also took tenth (Julia Ciesielka, Hadley Starr, Hannah Strauss, and Wasielevski) and 11th (Kelly Hester, Margaux Reyna, Margie Winter, and Christianson) with times of 1:44.27 and 1:44.48 respectively.

Emily Carkhuff (5:25.11) and Christianson (5:26.01) earned Top-20 spots for the Devils in the 500-yard freestyle. Sophie Laclef landed in 21st with a mark of 5:31.09.

The next event was the 200-yard individual medley which saw Strauss be the top DC finisher claiming 11th in 2:17.79. Wilson took home 16th at 2:19.42, while Maddi Vlattas clocked in at 2:21.12 for 21st.

Abbott-Havers earned the first Top-3 individual finish for the Red and Black with a third-place result in the 50-yard freestyle hitting the wall just .04 off the winning mark of Gettysburg's Ava Collin (24.45). Toth and Caron were close with times of 25.37 (15th) and 25.45 (17th). Izzy Moes mark of 26.10 and Reyna's 26.22 placed them inside the Top-25.

The group of Caron, Hester, Starr, and Toth put up a solid showing in the final event of the evening as they took seventh in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:06.51. 

The Garnet of Swarthmore College lead the team scoring so far with 296, being pursued by the host Bullets at 267. The Red Devils sit in fourth on 112 and are in a competitive battle with fellow Centennial Conference foe Ursinus College for third as the Bears have 171.
