PHILADELPHIA - Dickinson women's squash competitors Amna Fayyaz and Anna O'Connor spent Friday afternoon and evening competing at the College Squash Association National Collegiate Individual Championships inside the Specter Center.
Fayyaz entered the tournament as the No. 7 seed in the Holleran Cup North Division draw and began her day with a match against tenth-seeded Lydia Robinson out of Drexel. Fayyaz would drop the opening two games both times by scores of 11-8. In the third game, she fought tooth and nail all the way but ultimately dropped a 14-12 decision. That moved her to the consolation bracket against 15th-seeded Amanda Cowhey from Bowdoin. Fayyaz would advance to the next round with a 3-0 win thanks to scores of 11-9, 11-6, and 11-5. She will next play on Saturday morning at 11:20 a.m. against Abby Holding from Middlebury.
Anna O'Connor along with her partner Mark Naguib competed in the mixed doubles draw, but came up short against the duo of Katherine Dowling and Raghav Pemmireddy out of Brown by scores of 15-11, 15-5, and 15-6.
