Women's Squash Fall to Amherst and Bates on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Dickinson women's squash team suffered a pair of non-conference defeats on Saturday falling to both Amherst College and Bates College at the Penn Squash Center on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.

Match One - Mammoths 8, Red Devils 1

Inside the Match

Courtney Trail would earn the Devils lone point in the match coming from 0-1 down to knock off Lauren Well 3-1 at the No. 2 spot. Two other battles would make it to four games with Amna Fayyaz taking a 1-0 lead at the top flight, before dropping a 3-1 decision to Tanmai Pathak. At the No. 4 flight, Anna O'Connor tried to rally back from 2-0 down with an 11-9 win in the third game but lost the fourth to Tana Delalio.

Inside the Match

Dickinson earned a hard-fought five-game victory at the No. 1 spot with Fayyaz holding off a furious rally from Andrea Martagon after taking a 2-0 lead. Trail and Kuracina dispatched Erika Maria Parker-Schmidt and Katherine Manternach in three games at the second and third flights. O'Connor would fall behind 1-0, before ripping off three straight games. Flights five through nine would go to Bates with Nimoityn, Finney, and Moll each getting a game, but not being able to hold on.
