ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Keira Shoup scored the lone goal of the match in the fifth minute as the Dickinson women's soccer team knocked off the host Muhlenberg College by a scoreline of 1-0 on Wednesday night in Centennial Conference play.
The Red Devils cashed in on the first shot of the contest as Macey Mento found Shoup who fired a shot past Mules keeper Grace Hoffman. Muhlenberg came back down the pitch 15-seconds with Paige Addis having a shot stopped by Sophia Kavulich. Emma Cooney tested Hoffman four minutes later but was denied. There would not be another attempt towards goal until the 24th-minute as Emily Dunkel missed the mark, followed by Cooney sending a blast high. Dickinson continued to be on the front foot with Ashleigh Violette and Charlotte Glancey being turned aside by Hoffman, while Allie Charnas had her chance blocked by the defense to end the half.
The Mules had a chance to level the score at the 4:11 mark of the second half, but Emily Cevallos could not beat Kavulich. Dickinson responded with the next three shots however Lauren Bracken and Cooney were shutdown by Hoffman, while Mento had a chance cancelled out by the backline. An attempt by Addis at the 65:44 mark stemmed the tide for a moment, before Caleigh Fletcher sent a blast wide. The home kept pushing for the equalizer to end the match, but Addis and Cevallos were unable to solve Kavulich allowing the Devils to see out the 1-0 win.
