KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Dickinson College women's soccer team moved up two places to No. 19 in the newest United Soccer Coaches poll as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.
The Red Devils climbed up the rankings after winning a pair of contests last week knocking off both Arcadia and Ursinus on the road. First, on Wednesday they got goals from Emma Cooney and Sophia Elguera to pick up their fifth clean sheet of the season with a 2-0 win. Then, three days later DC returned to action with a convincing 4-1 victory over the Bears in a Centennial Conference fixture. Meg Tate led the way with three goals that night after handing out a pair of assists on Wednesday, which earned her Centennial Conference Player of the Week honor. At the defensive end of the pitch keeper, Sophia Kavulich made four saves in each matchup, while Juiliana Gianni appeared in relief against Ursinus making four stops as well.
The College of New Jersey occupies the top spot at 7-0-0, followed by Centennial Conference foe Johns Hopkins. The rest of the Top-10 includes Washington (Mo.), Christopher Newport, MIT, Misericordia, William Smith, Trinity (Texas), Chicago and McDaniel.
Dickinson also made their first appearance in the D3soccer.com poll earning 128 points to rank 23rd. TCNJ, Christopher Newport, Johns Hopkins, Chicago, and Washington (Mo.) hold the Top-5 places in that poll.
