CARLISLE, Pa. - Emma Cooney and Macey Mento tallied for Dickinson as the Red Devils remained undefeated with a 2-0 win over the visiting Susquehanna University River Hawks on Thursday night at Phyllis Joan Miller Memorial Field.
Both teams were on the front foot early as Lexie Greene and Lily Schmitt had shots for the home team, while Emily Wertz had a pair but neither side was able to cash in. In the tenth minute, the Red Devils found the scoresheet as Kiera Shoup rolled the ball into the path of Macey Mento who slipped a shot by Chloe Wieczkowski for the lead. Two minutes later Wertz blasted an attempt wide before the hosts had the next four chances as Meg Tate, Jessica Kiefer, Schmitt, and Mento all had a go at goal. Dickinson keeper Sophia Kavulich had a quiet half, until Avery Francis and Anna Werner both forced her into saves in the 29th and 38th minutes.
A little over two minutes into the second half Tate would get the first chance at net, but Wieczkowski was up to the task. However, Tate got revenge in the 52nd-minute when she set up Emma Cooney for a right-footed blast and a 2-0 edge. Off the ensuing kickoff, the River Hawks looked to bring themselves back into the game, but Kavulich had other ideas as she turned away Francis. The rest of the match belonged to the Devils as they had the final six shots of the match with Greene, Kiefer, and Tate being denied by Wieczkowski, while Allie Charnas and Shoup missed wide.
