CRESSON, Pa. - Four different players found the back of the net and the defense allowed just one shot against as the Dickinson College women's soccer team earned a 4-0 win over Mt. Aloysius College on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.
The first shot of the match came at the 5:38 mark as Sarah Cudmore was stopped by Lauren Davey. Then, 31-seconds later Charlotte Glancey played a long ball over the top into the path of Meg Tate who blasted home her first of the season for the early 1-0 lead. Macey Mento almost made it 2-0, but her attempt pinged the pipe. Emma Cooney had two chances back-to-back, but neither hit the mark. With 21:17 gone Johnna Adams missed high with the only shot all game for the Mounties. The Devils stayed on the attack with Keira Shoup, Lauren Bracken and Cooney forcing seven more saves out of Davey in the half.
Dickinson got right back on the front foot coming out of the break as Lily Schmitt slotted a ball across the 18-yard box to Shoup for the 2-0 lead with just 37-seconds gone. Seven minutes later Lexie Green sailed a shot high. The Red Devils made it 3-0 with 54:42 elapsed as Cooney played a "give and go" with Shoup before Cooney ripped a shot home. Ashleigh Violette and Shoup were stopped by Davey, while Allison Cudmore sent an attempt wide. Isabela Jesse capped off the scoring thanks to a cross from Allie Charnas for the 4-0 final.
Dickinson will have their home opener on Wednesday night at 6:30 when they welcome Susquehanna University to Dickinson Park.
