Women's Soccer Plays to OT Draw With Virginia Wesleyan

(Newport News, Va.) – The Dickinson women's soccer team played through double-overtime and ended in a 1-1 draw with Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday night at Christopher Newport University.

Junior Ally Diez (Rockville Center, N.Y./South Side) redirected a header into the back of the net, just before halftime to put the Red Devils on the scoreboard.

The Marlins tallied the equalizer in the 63rd minute and the teams played scoreless from that point.

Senior Sienna Zittle (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin) added an assist for the Red Devils while sophomore goaltender Carli Boyer (Silver Spring, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) made four saves in the nets for Dickinson.

The Red Devils recorded just three shots while Virginia Wesleyan got off 11, including seven in the second half.

The Red Devils held the advantage in corners, 5-4, earning four opportunities in the first half.

The Red Devils move to 2-0-1 on the season and return to action on Sunday afternoon, facing host Christopher Newport at 5:00 pm.
