Devils Downed by Shorewomen Thanks to Buzzer-Beater

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Liv Yeagle racked up six points on the day thanks to five goals and one assist, but it was not enough as the host Washington College Shorewomen broke a 12-12 deadlock with no time left on the clock to earn a 13-12 season-ending win over the Red and White at Kirby Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Dickinson took advantage of the first shot of the game just 3:01 off the clock as Yeagle netted her first of the contest off a feed from Alex Goles. Washington looked to answer recording the next three shots with Devils keeper Drew Yager making three stops before Ashley Devlin tied the score. The two sides then traded markers with Yeagle scoring her second from Gabby Guadalupe, while Ellie Morrall tallied a free-position chance. The Shorewomen got the last goal of the period when Devlin got her second with less than a minute to go.

Washington extended their lead to 4-2 with 13:21 left in the half, but then two quick markers from Yeagle and Delaney Herbert leveled things right back up at 4-4. The runs continued with a save by Sydney Wingate on Herbert leading to back-to-back free-position goals from Colleen Keefe sending the hosts back on top 6-4 at the 9:50 mark. Dickinson ended the half though on a tear with Herbert netting two more and Yeagle bagging another one to give DC a 7-6 halftime edge.

The Devils run continued to start the third with Riley Kuehn and Faith Parker burying their first of the contest to make it five straight for the Red and White extending the lead to 9-6 with not even five minutes off the clock. WC did not go away however as they responded with three of their own to stop the DC charge and tie the game at 9-9 with 5:47 on the clock. Washington continued to keep up the pressure, but Yager was the great equalizer making three huge stops leading to a free-position tally for Goles to get the Red and White back on top 10-9. There would be two more goals inside the final 30-seconds with each team hitting the back of the net giving the Devils a slim 11-10 lead heading to the fourth.

The first ten minutes of the fourth belonged to the keepers as Wingate and Yager combined for five saves to keep the score right where it was at 11-10. A yellow card on Mia Seergae with 7:06 remaining resulted in a player-up goal from Morrall to once again knot the score 11-11. Dickinson answered back at the 10:36 mark when Yeagle buried her fifth of the contest to make it 12-11, but two minutes later Molly Sharpe beat Yager. A DC turnover with 15-seconds left led to the Shorewomen coming back down the field and scoring a free-position goal with no time left on the clock for the winner.
