CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's lacrosse team took a 16-15 lead early in the fourth quarter thanks to Liv Yeagle, but surrendered the next three goals to fall just short of the visiting McDaniel College Green Terror by a score of 18-16 on Wednesday night at Biddle Field.
Dickinson applied the early pressure as Faith Parker missed the net first before Liz Barroll deposited the ball behind Hannah Miller. McDaniel scored two of the next three with Delaney Herbert tallying for the Red and White to make it 2-2 with just five minutes off the clock. The Green Terror then went on to score on their next three chances to grab a 5-2 edge at the halfway point. The goals continued to flow for both sides as Dickinson got goals by Riley Kuehn and Barrollto pull within 5-4. Lara Jensen finished off a nice feed from Emma Miller and Natalie Hoff added another to extend the cushion to 7-4. However, the Devils scored three more times of their own in the final three minutes thanks to Alex Goles (2) and Barroll to make it 7-7 through one.
McDaniel reclaimed the lead with 2:10 off the clock as Acadia Noll netted a free-position shot past Sierra McLaughlin as she took over for Ella Marks. Faith Parker and Delaney Herbert both solved Caroline Ramsey to knot the score at 9-9 with 10:39 remaining. After Barroll and Miller scored for their respective sides the remainder of the period belonged to the Red and White as Yeagle cashed in passes from Gabby Guadalupe and Barroll, while Herbert racked up another one to give DC a 13-10 edge after 30 minutes.
Katie Baur scored 21-seconds into the third to trim the gap to 13-11 before Guadalupe found Herbert for the goal and to push the gap back to three 14-11. The Green Terror responded by scoring on their next three chances to draw even 14-14 at the 10:21 mark. After a DC timeout, McLaughlin made a stop on Gaby Kohr to flip the momentum as the rock found its way to Syd MacKeigan who beat Miller for the 15-14 advantage with three in the books.
It would take just over two minutes into the fourth for McDaniel to tie the score when Miller cashed in unassisted. Once again a save by McLaughlin would result in Yeagle giving the Devils a slim edge when Kuehn found her cutting up the middle. Unfortunately, for Dickinson McDaniel recorded the ensuing five shots and scored three times to make it 18-15. Emma Wynne and Kuehn tried to bring the Devils back into the game late, but Miller turned them both aside to preserve the win.
