Red Devils Have Solid Showing Against #1 Diplomats

(CARLISLE, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's lacrosse team had another strong start and kept #1-ranked Franklin & Marshall in check throughout the entire first half. The Red Devils trailed by just a goal at the break, but the Diplomats would find some offense in the second half for a 12-2 decision.

Senior Laurie Travaglini (Darien, Conn./Darien) converted a free position shot to put the Red Devils in front, 1-0, in the early minutes of the game.

The Red Devils kept the Diplomats off the board until the 19:38 mark. The visitors managed to string together just three goals before Erika Bloes (Riverside, Conn./Greenwich) pulled Dickinson within one on another free position goal with 13 seconds remaining in the half.

First-year goaltender Ella Marks (Littleton, Colo./Colorado Academy) came up with some outstanding saves, making eight stops in the first half.

The Diplomats came out and tallied three goals in the opening three minutes of the second half.

The Red Devils continued to challenge with some outstanding play, but the Diplomats slowly built on the lead as they improved to 3-0 on the season.

Marissa McGarrey led the Diplomats with three goals and one assist while Emily Kitchen made seven saves.

Travaglini controlled four ground balls while Greta Holt (Alexandria, Va./Episcopal) and Maddy Gesner (West Newton, Mass./Kimball Union Academy) each tallied three draw controls.

Clare Janzer (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) picked-up three GBs while Marks finished with 12 saves on the night.

The Red Devils travel to Ursinus College on Saturday to face the Bears at 3:00 pm.
