Three Starters Reach Double-Figures in Win Over McDaniel

CARLISLE, Pa. - Starters Jennifer Kremp, Mia Kolb, and Kate Montgomery accounted for 35 of Dickinson's 62 points as the Red Devils earned their first Centennial Conference win of the season downing the visiting McDaniel College Green Terror by a score of 62-51 on Tuesday night at the Kline Center.

The game began extremely slow for both sides as layups by Ellie Connelly and Kolb were the only points for the first 4:18. A three by Kaite Klein made it 5-2 visitors before Caitlin Blackman, Lindsey Hollenshead, Kremp, and Montgomery all scored during an 8-0 home run to grab a 10-5 edge with six minutes gone. Meggie Burgess and Klein pulled McDaniel within one, but buckets from Clair Marion and Blackman made it 14-11. However, the Green Terror netted the final four points to grab a 15-14 lead after one.

After a Julia Ryan layup to begin the second quarter Kolb went on a personal 7-0 run over a 1:13 span ending on a three-pointer to put the Devils ahead 21-17. Five consecutive road points brought McDaniel back to the front 22-21 before Kolb added to her total to make it 23-22 home team with 4:43 until half. A three from Kremp and a bucket by Kayla Rose extended the lead by one to 28-26. DC would close the frame on a 6-3 push thanks to Jenna Weinstein and Kremp to take a 34-29 lead to the break.

Dickinson came out of the half strong as Hollenshead, Kremp, Montgomery, and Rose all scored during an 8-2 run over a 5:29 stretch to push their advantage out to double-digits at 42-31. A Burgess jumper stunted the charge for a moment, but Blackman knocked down a three, and Marion finished off at the rim to make it 47-35 with 66-ticks left. Back-to-back layups from Burgess cut it down to 47-39, however, a buzzer-beating triple by Blackman gave DC a 50-39 edge going to the final ten minutes.

Montgomery netted the Devils first five points of the fourth to extend the margin to 55-41 with two minutes gone. A Klein three gave made it 55-44, but a Kremp jumper sparked a 6-0 sprint by Dickinson with Blackman and Montgomery each knocking home two free throws pushing the advantage out to the largest of the night 61-44 at the 4:54 mark. McDaniel would close on a 7-1 run with a Hollenshead free throw being the only DC point to result in the 62-51 final.
