Softball Sweeps Washington for 6-0 Start

(Chestertown, Md.) – The Dickinson softball team took over the top spot in the Centennial Conference with a sweep at Washington College on Saturday. The Red Devils posted back-to-back shutouts, claiming the opener 6-0 and coming away with a 2-0 decision on the nightcap.

Kristen Acocella (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) and Paige Hahn (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) singled to start the second inning, setting up and RBI for Hannah Seburn (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) to put the Re Devils on the board.

The Red Devils tacked on two runs in the third as Julie Siecinski (Edison, N.J./JP Stevens) and Acocella had RBI singles and Brigitte Gutpelet (Norristown, Pa./Penn Charter) added a stolen base and a run scored.

Marissa Fabbo (Wilbraham, Mass./Wilbraham & Munson) singled in the fourth and immediately scored on a triple from Gutpelet. Junior Kat Parise (Pine Bush, N.Y./Pine Bush) singled to score Gutpelet and stretch the lead to 5-0.

Seburn reached on an error and would score on another as Gutpelet pushed her across the plate with a sacrifice fly that led to an error.

Siecinski and Acocella went 2-for-4 in the opener while Gutpelet tallied a pair of RBI and scored twice.

Senior Madison Milaszewski (Rutland, Mass./Sutton) went the distance, recording seven strikeouts in the win.

The Red Devils scored twice in the first inning of game one and rode the arm of senior pitcher Killian Kueny (Ewing, N.J./Ewing) the rest of the way for a 2-0 shutout.

Gutpelet walked and moved to third on a single from Parise. After Parise stole second, Maggie McConney (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) struck out, but reaching on a wild pitch as Gutpelet came in to score.

Acocella grounded out but tallied an RBI as Parise scored to put Dickinson up, 2-0.

McConney went 2-for-3 in game two while Kueny scattered five hits in the complete-game victory.

The Red Devils improve to 13-11 overall and move to 6-0 in the Centennial Conference. They are on the road again on Tuesday, traveling to Gettysburg College for a 3:00 pm start.
