Men's Cross Country has Four Members Named All-Region

NEW ORLEANS - Dickinson men's cross country athletes Matthew Dietrick, Jacob Doherty Munro, Charles Scharf, and Christopher Scharf have been named All Mid-Atlantic Region by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) after finishing inside the Top-35 of the regional championship race last Saturday at Big Spring High School.

Dietrick, a native of Malvern, Pennsylvania, made his rookie season in a Red Devil uniform count posting four Top-10 finishes. He came in third twice at the Little Three Championships (15:57) and Paul Short Invitational (26:06.0). He has been solid in two postseason races coming in 47th at the Centennial Conference Championship with a mark of 28:12.3, before crossing the line in 31st this past weekend at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional (27:40.20).

Doherty Munro arrived in Carlisle from Hudson, Massachusetts, and has become a mainstay in the Devils lineup. He began the year with a pair of 20th-place finishes at the Galen Piper Challenge (20:20.1) and the Little Three Championship (17:05). In the home regular-season meet he claimed seventh in the 4k race at the Long-Short Invite (12:48.538). So far in the postseason he finished 26th in the conference championship with a time of 27:12.2 and came in 18th in the Regional (27:17.60).

The Scharf brothers came to Dickinson from nearby Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, and have made a substantial impact on the program. This season they have posted four "one-two" finishes between the two of them with Christopher claiming the top spot at the Galen Piper (19:09.3), Little Three Championship (15:52), Long-Short Invitational (26:09.922), with his brother in hot pursuit at each event with marks of 19:18.7, 15:54, and 26;20.452. Charles finally got his revenge at the DC Alumni Race just barely edging out his brother 16:32.08 to 16:32.20. Christopher has won both postseason races with times of 25:22.0 and 25:51.60, while Charles has landed in seventh at 26:06.6 and 26:39.70.
