NEWVILLE, Pa. – Dickinson men's cross country senior Christopher Scharf earned his fifth individual win of the 2021 campaign by claiming victory at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Saturday afternoon at Big Spring High School hosted by Dickinson College.
Scharf posted a time of 25:51.6 which outpaced the entire 223-runner field. The closest competitor to him was Matthew Karee of Carnegie Mellon who took second in 26:24.1.
The next Red Devil to cross the line was Christopher's brother Charles Scharf who claimed seventh at 26:39.7. Jacob Doherty Munro also recorded a time good enough for a Top-20 finish as he came in at 27:17.6 (18th). Matthew Dietrick landed in 31st after crossing the stripe in 27:40.2. It would be a while until the next DC runner came in as Brock Overlander put up a mark of 28:40.5 which was good for 61st. The time of 28:44.7 posted by Michael Loalbo was good for 68th.
Dickinson posted a team score of 117 which was good for third out of 31 teams. The Tartans of Carnegie Mellon claimed the team title with just 30 points, followed by Johns Hopkins at 63. Messiah (137) and Elizabethtown (159) completed the Top-5.
