LANCASTER, Pa. - For the third time this season the Dickinson cross country program has had a Centennial Conference Runner of the Week as seniors Elaina Clancy and Christopher Scharf swept the honors as announced by the league office this morning.
Clancy, a native of Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania, earned the award after winning the long race at the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational on Saturday afternoon clocking in with a time of 22:38.21. She finished almost a full minute ahead of her nearest competitor in the 125-runner field as that was Aubrey Wingeart out of Waynesburg University who came in with a time of 23:35.11. She was part of a group of three Red Devil runners in the Top-10 as she was joined by Maddie Garber and Samantha Barnes in spots fourth and ninth respectively. Dickinson ended that race with a score of 13 which aided them in winning the combined team title.
Scharf, a native of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, took home the honor after winning the 8k race at the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational finishing in 26:09.92. He edged out the next closest competitor in the 141-runner field which was his brother Charles Scharf by 14-seconds as he crossed the line in 26:20.45. Charlie Miske was the only other Devil to compete in that race posting a time of 29:18.21, which allowed Dickinson to put up a score of 36 good for a fourth-place finish. However, the Red Devils were still able to claim the combined team title with a score of 68 as that was 38-points clear of Messiah.
