NEW ORLEANS, La. - For the first time during the 2021 season the Dickinson men's cross country team made an appearance in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Poll ranking 34th as announced by the organization this week.
The Red Devils earned 21 points to claim their spot in the poll after winning the Galen Piper Cross Country Challenge and the Little Three Championship for the 24th year in a row last Friday night at Dickinson Park.
Senior brothers Christopher Scharf and Charles Scharf have occupied spots one and two in each of the races so far to lead the Devils. First-years Matthew Dietrick and Brock Overlander have put in strong showings as well finishing inside the Top-10 a combined three times.
Dickinson also posted a No. 3 ranking in the Mid-Atlantic Region falling just off the pace behind No. 1 Johns Hopkins and No. 2 Carnegie Mellon. The final two places in the Top-5 belong to a pair of Centennial Conference foes with Gettysburg and Franklin & Marshall sitting in fourth and fifth respectively.
The Red Devils host their annual alumni meet at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Dickinson Park. Dickinson then returns to action, Saturday, September 25th when they host their Long-Short Invitational at Big Spring High School beginning at 10:30 a.m.
