NEW ORLEANS - After not having a regular 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic head coach Don Nichter and the Dickinson men's cross country team look to return to their dominant ways in the fall of 2021. Coach Nichter enters the campaign with a 21-runner roster that includes three seniors and seven juniors. It is that kind of depth, leadership, and experience that has grabbed the attention of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as they pegged the Red Devils as the third-best team in the Mid-Atlantic region heading into the season behind fellow Centennial Conference foe Johns Hopkins and Carnegie Mellon out of Pittsburgh.
Dickinson also made an appearance in the national preseason poll earning an honorable mention selection with six points.
The Red Devils will be led by the senior brother duo of Charles Scharf and Christopher Scharf who each finished frequently in the Top-20 back in 2019, including seven Top-10 results between the pair. Other key runners will be a trio of juniors in Michael Loalbo, James Marks, and Teddy Mercer. There is also a group of five first-years that will try to make an impact for Coach Nichter.
Dickinson begins the season next Wednesday night at the Go-Pher the Goal Twilight Meet in Baltimore starting at 6pm.
