Scharf Runs to All-America Honors in Steeplechase

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) – Dickinson junior Christopher Scharf (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) ran to All-America honors in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the 2021 NCAA National Championships on Friday afternoon.

Scharf placed fourth, crossing the line in a time of 9:12.36. He entered the race ranked seventh in the field, posting a season-best mark of 9:08.45 at the Rowan University Final Qualifier.

Scharf captured the Centennial Conference title and earned All-Region honors in the steeplechase, adding All-Region recognition in the 5000 meters as well. He clocked a time of 14:33.41 in the 5000 and broke the school record in the 3000 with a time of 8:24.82.

Elaina Clancy (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) earned All-America honors in the 10,000 meters with a fifth-place finish on Thursday night. Senior Isabel Cardi (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) is set to compete in the 5000 meters on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 pm.
