(Haverford, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's track & field team had some strong performances at the Haverford College Holiday Invitational on Saturday.
First-year Ben Brandeis (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) won the 400 meters with a time of 53.28 to edge classmate Aaron Brick (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends) with a mark of 53.75. Brandeis also added a second-place as the anchor with the 4x200 relay, third in the 60-meter hurdles and fifth with the 4x400 relay. Brick was fifth in the 200-meters and with the 4x400 relay.
Junior Adam Gamber (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) won the pole vault for the second straight meet, clearing the bar at 4.10 meters. Sophomore Kacper Rzempoluch (Princeton, N.J./West Windsor Plainsboro North) matched the height and placed fourth in a tie-break while Gavin Wood (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) was sixth.
First-year Samuel Novak (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) ran to a win in the 200 meters with a time of 23.47, adding silver with the 4x200 relay and fifth with the 4x400. Eric Sultini (Old Saybrook, Conn./Old Saybrook) joined the 4x200 and 4x400 relays and placed fourth in the 400 meters.
The Red Devils had a great showing in the 5000-meters. Senior Eric Herrmann (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown) was second with a time of 14:48.47 while Duncan Hopkins (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) and Christopher Scharf (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) crossing the line fourth and sixth.
In the shot put, senior Francisco Villarreal (Carson, Calif./Carson) was fifth with a toss of 11.56 meters while James Lotz (Forest Hill, Md./Gilman) was seventh and Maxwell Yoshida (Grosse Point Woods, Mich./Grosse Point) placed eighth.
Sophomore Kenny Blessing (Carlisle, Pa./Big Spring) was fourth in the long jump, clearing 6.15 meters while first-year Titus Clark (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) was fifth in the high jump (1.65m) and sixth in the long jump. Zach Popkin (Washington, D.C./Maret School) was sixth in the triple jump.
Sophomore Christian Moran (Halifax, Mass./Silver Lake) led-off the second-place 4x200 relay and placed seventh in the 60 meters. Chris Harrison (Easton, Md./Easton) added a sixth-place showing in the 400 meters.
The Red Devils return to competition on January 19th, traveling to the Orange & Maroon Classic at Susquehanna University.
