CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson men's team closed out their 2022 campaign with a tightly contested 5-4 setback to the visiting Ursinus College Bears on Saturday afternoon at the Hays Tennis Courts.
Doubles (Ursinus 2-1)
Dickinson got their lone doubles victory at the number three flight where DJ Finnell and Levi Veleanu were too much for Noah Mandel and Ethan Yu winning by a score of 8-2. At number two the duo of Romano De Caprio and Will Lewis battled tooth-and-nail with Rob Ritchie and Darby Rogers, but fell just short 8-6. The top pair of Garrick Adams and Thomas Griffin dropped an 8-1 match to Lars Jespersen and Will Oberholtzer.
Singles (Tied 3-3)
Four matches would need three sets to determine a victor as the number one slot was a battle between Adams and Jespersen, unfortunately for the Red and White, they fell 7-5, 4-6, 6-3. The next one occurred at the number three spot where Veleanu had just a little too much in the tank for Ritchie winning 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 with a hard-fought 7-5 third-set tiebreaker win. De Caprio became the second Devil to win in three as he brought down Rogers coming from behind 5-7, 6-2, 6-2. Lewis was the third DC player to go the distance in victory knocking off Mandel 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 at the fifth spot. Griffin came up short against Oberholtzer (4-6, 4-6) and Finnell fell in straight sets 5-7, 3-6.
