Men's Tennis Drops 6-3 Decision to Gettysburg

(CARLISLE, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's tennis team suffered a 6-3 setback to visiting Gettysburg College on Saturday afternoon while the women came out on top of the Bullets, 6-3.

Garrick Adams (Kensington, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) earned two points for the Red Devils. He survived a hard-fought match in the #3-singles flight (6-4, 4-6, 6-1), and joined Chris Rinehart (Radnor, Pa./Radnor) to claim second doubles, 8-6.

Levi Veleanu (Philadelphia, Pa./Springside Chestnut Hill Academy) had a strong showing in the #4-flight, winning 6-0, 6-0. Rinehart had a strong showing in the number five spot while Romano De Caprio (Darien, Conn./Darien) battled in the number two flight.

The Red Devil women were down 2-0 at the start, missing two players on Saturday. They had a strong showing, however, claiming the top two doubles flights and all four singles matches for the 6-3 win.

Martine Fierro (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) earned points with wins at number one doubles (8-5) and singles (6-0, 6-1). Ariana Goitz (Gibsonia, Pa./Shady Side Academy) joined Fierro for doubles and won fourth singles 6-3, 6-1.

Hanna Butler (Gibson Island, Md./Severn School) and Molly Michel (Randolph, N.J./Morristown-Beard) rolled to an 8-1 win at second doubles and had straight set wins in the second and third singles flights to help secure the win.

The Red Devil women improve to 1-1 while the men slip to 0-2 on the season. They are on the road next Saturday, traveling to Muhlenberg College for a 1:00 pm start.
