Men's Tennis Goes 3-0 to Start Spring Break

(Orlando, Fla.) – The Dickinson men's tennis team had a great start to spring break, going 3-0, topping St. Scholastica, Northwestern St. Paul and Schreiner University.

The Red Devils started the week with a 7-2 win over St. Scholastica on Monday. First-year Peter Schmidt (Morris Plains, N.J./Laurel Springs) and junior Derek Chen (Cranbury Township, Pa./Cranbury Township) posted straight set wins in the second and third singles flights, and combined to win at second doubles, 8-3. Chen surrendered just one game in singles, posting a (6-0, 6-1) decision. 

First-year Joey Bolanos (San Salvador, El Salvador/Escuela Americans) partnered with senior Nick Reese (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) for an 8-1 victory in doubles. Bolanos was dominant in singles as well, winning the fourth flight in straight sets (6-0, 6-0). 

Reese claimed the five spot with an impressive win, going (6-1, 6-1) while first-year Bryce Perritt (Allentown, Pa./Lawrenceville) added a point with a (6-0, 6-1) decision in singles.

The Red Devils rolled to an 8-1 win over Northwestern-St. Paul and turned back Schreiner, 6-3, playing a pair of matches on Wednesday.

Schmidt and Chen went 2-0 in on Wednesday, playing second doubles and in the number two and three singles flights. Bolanos and Perritt tallied singles wins in both matches while Bolanos added a pair of doubles wins with Reese.

The Red Devils improve to 4-2 on the season. They are scheduled to face Springfield on Thursday and close out the week on Friday with Colorado College.
