Penn Tops Red Devils in Opening Round of PA Cup

(Philadelphia, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's squash team had a tough start to the 2019-20 season, falling in the PA Cup in the season opener at the University of Pennsylvania, 9-0, as the Quakers swept all nine flights, 3-0.

Sophomore Ben Gemma (Barrington, R.I./Moses Brown) and junior Adil Tibrawalla (Kolkata, India/La Martiniere School) had a pair of strong performances. Gemma went 4-11, 7-11, 4-11) while Tibrawalla battled in the ninth (7-11, 9-11, 8-11).

The Red Devil women had a similar outing, falling 9-0 as well. Courtney Trail (Palmerston North, N.Z./Palmerston North Girls School) dropped an (11-7, 11-5, 11-7) decision in the top flight while Lindsay Kuracina (Thornhill, Ontario, Canada/Lake Forest) suffered an (11-8, 11-4, 11-8) setback in the second position.

Both teams will return to UPenn on Sunday to face Franklin & Marshall in the consolation round of the PA Cup.
