Men’s Soccer Drops Centennial Conference Opener to Fords

CARLISLE, Pa. – Tyson Burling supplied the lone goal for the Red Devils on the night as Haverford College knocked off Dickinson by a score of 3-1 on Saturday night in the Centennial Conference opener for both sides.

Dickinson keeper John Baney was tested first as he denied Paul-Andre Coulibaly and Noah Schwab in the opening ten minutes. Burling release the Red Devils opening shot of the match, but Dylan Ioffreda was up to the task. Less than 30-seconds later Baney was back in action stopping Alex Millones. Five minutes before half the Fords would strike as Luca Mello found Schwab on the left-side of the box for the finish and the 1-0 edge at half.

The second half began with the Devils on the front foot as Will Flannery and Ronan Higgins both missed the target prior to Ioffreda turning aside Higgins with 51:43 gone. Haverford would grab the 2-0 lead with just over a half-hour remaining as Baney made a strong save to deny Millones. Unfortunately, the rebound came right back to him and he fired it home. Dickinson would bring themselves back into the game when Flannery setup Burling for the finish beyond the reach of Ioffreda at the 64:24 mark. Millones completed the scoring a dozen minutes later with an unassisted marker.
