No. 19 Blue Jays Spoil Senior Day

CARLISLE, Pa. - Despite holding the visiting Johns Hopkins University to 1-21 from beyond the arc in the first-half the Dickinson men's basketball team found themselves down by 13 at half. From there the Red and White battled hard all day but did not have enough as the No. 19 Blue Jays spoiled senior day with a 70-50 win at the Kline Center. Prior to the game, Dickinson honored their seniors Chris Bates, Will Colleran, Lucas Curran, Josh Seymour, Ryan Robinson, Jack Tierney, and David Vogt.

It would be the Devils who had the lead early 5-4 with buckets coming from Curran and Vogt. Sidney Thybulle put the visitors on top 6-5, before a triple by Vogt made it 8-6. Carson James and Thybulle each netted four points during a 13-2 run to take a 19-10 lead with 6:34 left in the half. Anthony Goeb and Luke Spellman accounted for the final five points of the half for the Red and White as the Jays outscored the home side 9-5 down the stretch to lead 28-15 at half.

Tierney accounted for the first four points for the Red Devils as they closed within 30-19. However, Hopkins responded with their second 13-2 charge of the game with Tom Quarry and Lincoln Yeutter knocked down shots from distance to extend the lead to 43-21 with 14:14 to play. Andrew Gostovich was determined to make sure DC would not go down without a fight as he went on a solo 7-0 run, before adding another layup to cap a 12-5 stretch for the Red and White to cut the deficit to 48-33 at the halfway point. Hopkins quashed the Red Devils roll with an 18-2 rampage ending on two at the stripe from Braeden Johnson making it 66-35. Curran made his senior day memorable with a 7-0 push to bring some energy back into the building. Two Brandon Wiercinski triples and a pull-up jumper by Justin Glover ended the scoring for the Devils on the afternoon leading to the 70-50 final.
