Devils Unable to Hold Off Late Charge From Dutchmen

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson men's basketball led 54-44 with 9:42 remaining but got outscored 28-10 down the stretch to allow the visiting Lebanon Valley College Dutchmen to earn a 72-64 win at the Kline Center on Saturday afternoon. Dickinson was led by Ryan Robinson with 18 points. 

The Devils took an early lead with a three-pointer from Aaron Bailey and two free throws by Robinson to make it 5-2 inside the opening two minutes. Evin Timochenko then went on a personal 6-0 tear after a layup for Collin Jones to grab a 10-5 edge with five minutes gone. In a half of runs, Dickinson responded with an 11-0 run thanks to triples by Justin Glover and Andrew Gostovich along with layups from Jack Tierney and Robinson to jump in front 16-10 with 11:01 to go in the half. LVC would flip the tables right back on the home side with Luis Garcia, Jaylen Reichner, and Jones embarking on an 11-2 push to give the Dutchmen a 21-18 advantage. Dickinson reclaimed the lead at 26-23 with 5:19 to go with buckets coming from Drew Haueisen, Bailey, and Robinson. Timochenko added eight points during a 10-2 LVC run to take a 33-28 advantage. Robinson would hit from deep at the buzzer to close within 33-31 at the break. 

Dickinson came out of the locker room strong with buckets from Chris Bates, Robinson, and Tierney to grab a 39-33 lead with 1:58 gone. Lewis Payton, Zack Tucker, and Collins brought LVC right back into the with a 9-4 spurt to cut the deficit down to 43-42 with five minutes off the clock. Brandon Wiercinski then got red-hot from deep knocking down three consecutive triples to extend the home team's advantage to 52-44 with 11:41 remaining. Two minutes later Tierney would take a nice dish from Bailey for a layup to push the margin to double-figures 54-44. Over the next seven minutes, the Devils would miss 11 straight shots, while LVC went on a 20-0 rampage aided by three-pointers from Garcia and Tucker to take a commanding 64-54 advantage with 2:07 left. The Dutchmen would be able to salt the game away on the charity stripe going eight-of-ten the rest of the way, while DC got buckets from Gostovich and Robinson for the 72-64 final.
