(CARLISLE, Pa.) – Dickinson Assistant Men's Basketball Coach Adam Spinella '14 has announced he will be leaving the program to accept a position as the head coach of boys' basketball at the Boys' Latin School in Baltimore, Maryland.
Spinella, a 2014 graduate of Dickinson, returned to his alma mater to join the coaching staff as an assistant in 2019. He was no stranger to the program after serving as a student assistant coach for three years as an undergrad. He returned to Dickinson after spending two seasons at Washington & Jefferson, serving as the Intern Assistant Coach under former Red Devil assistant Ethan Stewart-Smith.
Prior to joining the W&J staff, Spinella served as a boys' basketball coach at Culver Academies, a college prep boarding school located in Culver, Indiana. His experience as a coach at Culver Academies spanned three years as the lead varsity assistant and junior varsity head coach. Spinella helped lead the 2016-17 team to a 21-3 overall record, the program's second Sectional Championship and the No. 1 ranking in the state of Indiana for the first time in school history.
In addition, Spinella was able to expand his coaching experience through various prospect and instructional camps including Dickinson's Red Devils Camps, prospect camps at Case Western Reserve University and Marietta College, Paul Hogan's Shooter's Gold Basketball Camps in New Hampshire and both Hoop Group Skills and Elite camps.
During his time at Dickinson Spinella also held a Resident Advisor position for three years and was a founder and President of the Red Devil Sports Network (RDSN) Broadcasting Club.
He received a degree in Political Science and served as a teaching intern at Breakthrough Collaborative and the St. Paul's Advanced Studies Program in New Hampshire during the summers of 2012 and 2013, respectively. He holds a master's degree in Sports Industry Management from Georgetown University.
Spinella has been an integral part of the men's basketball team at Dickinson and has played a key role in the development and success of the program. Dickinson Head Coach Alan Seretti is excited about the opportunity for Adam and believes he will be a great addition at Boys' Latin.
"The Boys' Latin School of Maryland has made a terrific hire by bringing in Adam Spinella to become its next boys' basketball coach", said Seretti. "Adam helped us build the Dickinson program to a national level as a student-assistant coach, he was mentored by both Coach Galloway at Culver and Coach Stewart-Smith at W&J, and he returned to Carlisle the past two years a complete coach ready for his own program."
Seretti added, "Adam has an elite understanding of the game, is a tireless worker, and most importantly does an amazing job of building relationships with his student-athletes. He will be greatly missed here in Carlisle but everyone in the Dickinson community is excited to follow his future success at Boys' Latin."
