Allen Nets Game-High 20 to Score 1,000th Career Point

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's basketball team turned in a solid performance on Thursday, but the #10-ranked Blue Jays of Johns Hopkins would hold off the Red Devils 80-70.

Senior guard Bryce Allen (Albany, N.Y./The Hill School) finished with a game-high 20 points, scoring the 1,000th of his career on the long three-pointer from the corner in the second half.

The Red Devils had a strong start, taking an early 8-4 lead behind back-to-back lay-ups from KJ Holton (Clinton, Md./DeMatha).

Hopkins used a 14-4 run to pull in front by six at the midpoint of the half. Ryan Devine (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) cut the deficit to one and Allen put Dickinson back in front, scoring off a fast break with 3:46 to play.

First-year Mark Bowditch (Milton, Wisc./IMG Academy) and junior Ryan Robinson (Vienna, Va./George Marshall) added three-pointers late in the half to keep the game close at halftime with Hopkins leading, 33-30.

The Blue Jays hit back-to-back three-pointers to start the second half and built the lead to as many as 21 at the midpoint of the second half.

Jack Tierney (Darien, Conn./Darien) knocked down a three-pointer and Allen hit a three and went coast to coast to pull the Red Devils within 10 at the 5:38 mark.

Tierney and Allen hit consecutive three's again and Robinson helped cut the deficit to seven with just over a minute to play. Robinson added a three-pointer with 14 seconds left before a pair of Blue Jay free throws made the final 80-70.

Allen added four rebounds, four steals, three rebounds and two assists to his game-high 20 points. Holton tallied 13 points, going 5-for-5 from the free throw line while Robinson finished with 12 points, four rebounds two assists and two steals. Tierney reached double-figures with 10 points, two assists and two steals.

The Red Devils slip to 2-18 overall and 2-11 in the Centennial Conference. They are home again on Saturday, hosting Ursinus College at 4:00 pm.
