Late Run Falls Short at #16-Ranked Johns Hopkins

(Baltimore, Md.) – The Dickinson men's basketball team had a tough night at #16-ranked Johns Hopkins University, making a late run but falling 78-62 on Thursday.

The Red Devils built a 16-14 lead to start the game before the Blue Jays rallied and took a 36-23 advantage into the break.

First-year KJ Holton (Clinton, Md./DeMatha) had a strong start, controlling five rebounds while adding four points in the first half. Ryan Robinson (Vienna, Va./George Marshall) led the Red Devils with seven points. Travis Dobbins (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) tallied three rebounds, two assists and two steals.

The teams traded baskets to start the second half before the Blue Jays put together a run to lead 46-27, in the opening three minutes. Dan Conlan (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) countered with a pair of three-pointers but the hosts continued to stretch the margin.

Conlan converted another three-point play to reach double figures at the midpoint of the half.

Adam Drummond (Cork, Ireland/Taft School, Conn.) hit back-to-back field-goals to spark a Red Devil run, cutting the lead to 21 with a 9-0 run, capped by a three-pointer from Dobbins.

Conlan and Dobbins hit back-to-back three-pointers to close the final gap to 16.

Conlan finished with 16 points and seven rebounds to lead the Red Devils. Dobbins and Drummond each reached double figures with 10 while Robinson tallied nine points and seven rebounds. Holton added seven rebounds and six points and Onye Okoro (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern) had seven points and three rebounds.

The Red Devils move to 1-11 overall and 1-4 in the Centennial Conference. They are on the road again on Saturday, traveling to Ursinus College for a 1:00 pm tip-off.
