Spiri Named Defensive Player of the Year as Devils Have Three Players Named All-Conference

LANCASTER, Pa. - Dickinson field hockey senior defender Hannah Spiri was named to the First Team All-Centennial Conference as well as the conference Defensive Player of the Year. Midfielder Ellie Werner garnered Second Team honors, while attacker Hailey Womer was tabbed as Honorable Mention.

Spiri, a native of Morgantown, Pennsylvania, earned her second All-Conference selection after being named Second Team back in 2019. This season she did it all for the Red and Black leading the team in points with 15 on a team-best six goals and three assists. Her most memorable offensive output of the season came on October 20th at home against Gettysburg when she converted a pair of penalty strokes, including the game-winner less than a minute into overtime in a 2-1 victory over the Bullets. She also got it done on the defensive end recording a team-high four defensive saves and solidifying a relatively young backline for DC.

Werner, a native of Hellertown, Pennsylvania, had a knack for being in the right place at the right time for Dickinson in 2021. She finished the campaign with eight points thanks to three goals and two helpers. Of Werner's three markers on the season, two of them were game-winners. As she aided the Devils in bringing down No. 13 Lynchburg on September 4th by a 2-1 score, and then on October 13th she deflected home a Spiri blast to give DC their first win over Franklin & Marshall since 2007.

Womer, a native of Millerstown, Pennsylvania, closed her first year at Dickinson with 12 points on three taillies and dishing out six assists. Her first-ever collegiate game was a memorable one as she scored a pair of goals in the Devils hard-fought 4-2 home setback to No. 8 Messiah. She had two other multi-point games on the season recording two at Shenandoah (two assists) and three in a tough road win at No. 11 Ursinus (goal and assist). Womer also supplied the helper on one of Dickinson's two goals on Friday at Ursinus in the Centennial Conference semifinal win that sent DC to their first-ever conference title game.
