(Carlisle, Pa.) – Dickinson senior Alana Platukus (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Pittston Area) scored off an assist from Emma Godfrey (Denver, Colo./Cherry Creek) with just under nine minutes remaining to lead the Red Devil field hockey team to a 2-1 victory over visiting Shenandoah University on Saturday afternoon.

That marked the second straight win for the Red Devils after a thrilling overtime decision at York College on Wednesday.

Dickinson struck early as junior Marie Laverdiere (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) found the back of the cage, less than two minutes into the contest, scoring off an assist from junior Emily Mycek (Norristown, Pa./Methacton) to put the Red Devils on the board.

The Hornets would counter early in the second half, netting the equalizer just 3:09 after the break with Jessica Donovan finishing an assist from Kelsey Jones.

The teams were relatively even with Dickinson forcing six while allowing four on the defensive end. The Red Devils held the advantage in shots, 11-6, as Isabella Morande turned away four shots in goal for Shenandoah.

Senior Heather Meeder (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) made a pair of saves for the Red Devils as they improve to 2-1 on the season.

The Red Devils are home again on Tuesday, hosting Susquehanna University at 4:00 pm.
