LANCASTER, Pa. - The Dickinson baseball team had two players named to All-Centennial Conference Second Team as announced by the league office on Thursday morning as senior Beau Dana along with junior Andrew Mazzone earned the honors.
Dana was brilliant as the Devils closer posting a 2-0 record with a conference-leading five saves in 13 outings hurling 19.2 innings allowing nine hits and six runs. However, in his seven conference appearances, he did not surrender a single run in nine innings. Two of his longest outings of the season came during the team's Florida trip where he threw a combined 6.2 frames giving up just two hits while fanning a total of 15 hitters and recording two wins against Bowdoin (W, 8-5) and St. Norbert (W, 7-5). In his pair of appearances versus Gettysburg, he went three innings giving up no hits, no runs, and striking out four batters.
Mazzone served as the designated hitter for the Red and White all season until his run came to a halt due to an injury. During his time on the field, he had team-highs in batting average (.423), on-base percentage (.517), slugging percentage (.711), and hits (41). He also added 29 RBIs, 26 runs scored, 11 walks, six home runs, six doubles, and two triples. Mazzone had 16 multi-hit games, including five of three hits or more. His best day of the campaign came on March 30th during a home non-conference game against Neumann University where he went 5-5 with seven RBIs, five runs scored, three home runs, a triple, and a stolen base.
