(LANCASTER, Pa.) – The Dickinson baseball team split the final regular season double-header on Saturday with Franklin & Marshall claiming the opener and the Red Devils taking the win in game two.

The Diplomats survived a tight match up in game one, 2-1. They used a pair of doubles to score one in the second and tacked on another in the third to take the early lead.

The Red Devils got one back in the fifth with Chris Delsandro (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) hitting a single and later coming in on a sacrifice fly from Kenny Tagliareni (Hopewell Valley, N.J./Hopewell Valley).

Andrew Mazzone (Belmont, Mass./Phillips Academy Andover) added a double in the eighth and Delsandro reached third after a walk, stolen base wild pitch but the Red Devils were unable to plate the tying run.

Senior Jake Geddes (Darien, Conn./Darien) had a strong appearance, recording six strikeouts in five innings. Teddy Reddington (Reston, Va./The Flint School) and Connor Langan (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) had solid innings in relief.

The Diplomats struck with two in the bottom of the third of game two, but the Red Devils answered right back with a pair in the top of the fourth. The Red Devils used four hits with Derek Smith (New Hope, N.J./New Hope-Solebury) and Joey Volpe (Wall, N.J./St. Rose) each driving in a run.

The Red Devils erupted for five runs in the top of the seventh to pull in front 7-2. The Red Devils loaded the bases and Alex Cohen (Newtown Square, Pa./Penn Charter) singled to score Tom Gannaway (Westfield, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) and Delsandro.

Brendan Pell (Delran, N.J./William Penn Charter) picked up and RBI after being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Volpe drove in two more to give Dickinson a five-run advantage.

The Red Devils tacked on a pair in the eighth with Cohen hitting a triple to score Tagliareni before coming in a single from Mazzone.

A walk and a double led to a run in the bottom half of the inning to make the score 9-3.

Ethan Hamilton (Wyndmoor, Pa./Springfield Twp.) had a strong start, recording six strikeouts in five innings. Thomas Marshman (Cohasset, Mass./Boston College) added two strong innings before Beau Dana (Marblehead, Mass./Marblehead) came on to book two strikeouts in the eighth and close out the ninth.

Cohen went 2-for-6 with three runs scored and three RBI. Volpe had two hits and three RBI as well while Tagliareni and Mazzone each had two hits and two runs scored.
