(GETTYSBURG, Pa.) – The Dickinson baseball team split a Centennial Conference double-header at Gettysburg College on Wednesday afternoon. The Red Devils rallied in game one to take the opener, 6-5, but suffered a tough 4-3 setback in the nightcap.

The Red Devils put a run on the board in the first inning of game oen as Tom Gannaway (Westfield, N.J./St. Joseph's Prep) singled and made his way to third before coming in on a base hit from Andrew Mazzone (Belont, Mass./Phillips Academy Andover).

The Bullets scored twice on three singles and a failed pick-off attempt to pull in front 2-1 in the bottom of the first.

The Red Devils regained the lead in the third on a two-RBI single from Christian Kim (Rivervale, N.J./Pascack Hills). First-year Kenny Tagliareni (Hopewell Valley, N.J./Hopewell Valley) and Alex Cohen (Newtown Square, Pa./Penn Charter) both reached on singles and came around to score.

Gettysburg used back-to-back doubles to score two runs in the fifth and take a 5-3 lead.

The Red Devils looked to rally in the seventh, leading off with back-to-back singles from Lukas Atsalis (West Hyannis Port, Mass./Berkshire School) and Gannaway. Tagliarini moved the runners with a well-placed sacrifice bunt.

Cohen lined a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Atsalis and pulling the Red Devils within a run. Mazzone followed up with a long double to center, scoring Gannaway and tying the game, 5-5.

They held in the bottom of the seventh and took a 6-5 lead on a homerun from Kim in the top of the eighth.

Beau Dana (Marblehead, Mass./Marblehead) came on and recorded three strikeouts to earn the save. Brian Riley (Portland, Maine/Portland) earned the win after a solid start from Matt Spind (Clarksville, Md./McDonogh) and strong relief from Joey Sangiuolo (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield-Ludlowe).

Kim went 2-for-3 with three RBI while Mazzone was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI. Gannaway added two hits and scored twice in the opener.

Game two went into extra innings as well, following a familiar script. Gannaway doubled to lead things off in the first inning and Tagliareni walked. They would score off a sacrifice fly from Mazzone and RBI single off the bat of Brendan Pell (Delran, N.J./Penn Charter).

Gettysburg tied the game with a pair of hits and a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning. The Bullets produced a run in the third with another sacrifice fly to slip in front, 3-2.

Mazzone drove in Gannaway and scored on an RBI single from Derek Smith (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solebury) to put Dickinson in the lead, 4-3, in the fifth.

The Bullets pulled even on an error in the sixth. They worked the bases full in the eighth and Andrew Decker hit into a fielder's choice to score the game-winner for the hosts.

Tagliareni went 2-for-3 with a triple while Mazzone drove in two runs and Gannaway scored twice.

The Red Devils move to 4-2 on the season. They are scheduled to return home to face Muhlenberg on Saturday at 12:00 pm.
