(Winter Haven, Fla.) – The Dickinson baseball team improved to 4-0 on the season, sweeping a double-header from Curry College to start its spring break tour.

The Red Devils broke a 2-2 tie with three runs in the sixth inning to win the opener 5-2 and rallied from behind for a 4-3 decision in the nightcap to remain unbeaten to start the 2019 campaign.

Sophomore Alex Cohen (Newtown Square, Pa./Penn Charter) hit a double to score Ben Carter (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area) in the first inning and Brian Reilly (Morganville, N.J./Marlboro) hit a solo homerun to give the Red Devils a 2-0 advantage in the fourth.

The Colonels tied the game with two runs in the top of the fifth inning, but the Red Devils would answer with three runs in the sixth to claim the opener.

Joey Volpe (Wall, N.J./St. Rose) and Alex Jacobson (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) recorded RBI singles while senior Max Brown (Annapolis, Md./McDonogh School) doubled in a run as well for the final of 5-2.

Reilly, Volpe and Brown each went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI while Cohen went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Carter went 1-for-3 with a run scored and a walk.

Sophomore Jake Geddes (Darien, Conn./Darien) went 4.2 innings and had five strikeouts. Connor Langan (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) and Tommy Koide (Morristown, N.J./West Morris Mendham) had strong innings while Teddy Reddington (Reston, Va./Flint School) earned the win.

Cohen tripled to score Carter in the first inning of game two and Reilly put Dickinson up 2-0 in the fifth, scoring on a wild pitch after back-to-back errors by the Colonels.

A double and a homerun led to three runs and a 3-2 lead for Curry in the bottom of the fifth inning. The lead was short-lived as Jacobson doubled in two runs in the top of the sixth to keep the Devils unbeaten with a 4-3 win.

Ethan Collins (Elmer, N.J./Arthur P. Schalick) booked six strikeouts in 4.2 innings in game two. Jake Birnbaum (Tinton Falls, N.J./Red Back Catholic) came on to end the fifth inning and earn the win. Clayton Tennant (Danville, Calif./San Ramon Valley) shut down the Colonels in the sixth before Koide made his second appearance of the day to record the save.

The Red Devils face Mt. St. Joseph in a double-header on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
