Dickinson Athletics is committed to building lifelong relationships. That's why Director of Athletics Joel Quattrone created the new McAndrews Society.
The McAndrews Society is an online networking group for varsity student-athletes, alumni, and parents/friends of Dickinson Athletics. The mission of the McAndrews Society is to facilitate career exploration, and cultivate lifelong relationships for Red Devil student-athletes and supporters.
"The time is now to be a difference maker in the life of a fellow Dickinson Red Devil," Quattrone expressed. "Once you put on our uniform, you will forever wear the Red. A vital element of this responsibility is a willingness from current student-athletes, alumni, and parents/friends of the Dickinson Athletics network to connect with each other, and provide mentorship.
It's important for our upcoming generation to identify and leverage skills learned in athletic competition and translate them to the workplace. Our goal is to do this by organizing and empowering the Dickinson Athletics network to bring professional development to the next level. With our current momentum, we look forward to launching the McAndrews Society."
By joining the McAndrews Society group within Dickinson's professional development website, AlumniFire, members can effectively identify and engage with current student-athletes and alumni peers. Dickinson made a collegewide partnership with Alumnifire to provide a simple online platform for all Dickinson alumni to network with current students and fellow alumni who share professional interests.
AlumniFire is easy to use. Users can:
• Sign up and integrate information through Linkedln, Facebook, or email
• Fully customized profiles with choice of if, when, how often to engage with other users
• Look for job candidates, search for a job, and find career mentors
• Connect with anyone within the Dickinson network, including current employees and parents
"Our alumni, parents, and friends are incredible resources for our student-athletes. Using AlumniFire will be an impactful tool for career exploration, as our student-athletes pursue options and build purposeful lives," Quattrone said. "I welcome and appreciate all who join us in the McAndrews Society."
The McAndrews Society is named in honor of Richard H. McAndrews, Doctor of Physical Education and beloved member of the Dickinson College faculty from 1911-1961. McAndrews is also honored through the McAndrews Fund for Athletics, and the annual McAndrews Award which recognizes Dickinson's top female and male student-athlete performers.
